Dental uniforms are not exactly what one would call haute couture. Moreover, most dental patients have enough on their mind when going to the dentist’s to even notice that there’s ever a difference in how the dentist or the dental assistant is dressed. Which is why you may think that there’s no need to bother too much with the process. Yet, if you are a dentist or a dental assistant, your uniform will be as important as your business card. It may not be more important than your skill, obviously, but it will help with the first impression you create and will allow the patient to develop a positive attitude towards you.
Why should you bother?
Most people will be quick to say a uniform is just a uniform. Dental uniforms may seem to look all the same, but they can look a lot different, based on how dentists wear them. As a dentist, you want your patients to look at you and see a clean-cut image, you want them to trust you, as you work on their teeth and you want them to leave with a good impression. That good impression starts from the first moment they see you. Your dentistry skills may, indeed, be the key point, but a patient will be more open to liking his doctor when he likes the way the doctor looks like.
If you remove the professional aspect, you may also care about the personal aspect. Just because dental uniforms are meant to be worn at work it doesn’t mean that the only people who will see you in them will be people who are involved with you just professionally. And, while your patients may not take the time to always check out how you look, your friends and loved ones may take a longer look.
If that still doesn’t convince you…
The notion of quality may be the selling point. As a dentist, you will be wearing dental uniforms most of your life. You could be wasting precious time each year going out to buy new uniforms, or you could choose something from the start that is durable and of great quality, which will last you a long time. If you make a short calculation, you will discover that you will pay considerably less if you buy a more expensive, quality item from the beginning, than if you buy less expensive but also less quality uniforms.
As a dentist, you will get blood, water and several other substances on your uniform all the time. You will have to wash it constantly, so it will have to be very resistant if you want it to last for more than a few months.
So basically…
Just like with everything else, in the case of your uniform, it’s a good idea to go for quality. Check your uniform, check its material and make sure it has all the right characteristics. Buy your uniform like you buy your other clothes – maybe even with more attention. You will be wearing your dental uniforms much more than your street clothes and they will be more than just a piece of fabric: they will be your image as a professional.
So if you are looking for the best deals on dental uniforms, then you have come to the right place.
